Bill Malloy, VENTURE PARTNER


Bill is an Ignition Venture Partner. He works on Ignition's telecommunications and wireless investments.

Bill has represented Ignition as director on the boards of Extend America (acquired by Sprint/Nextel) and Wildseed (acquired by America Online).

Bill joined Ignition in 2002 with over 20 years experience in senior operating roles with marketing and technology companies.

He has served as CEO of two Internet companies , focusing on turnaround, and follow-on financing for communications software provider, WorldStream Communications and Internet grocer, Peapod.

Over 11 years, Bill had extensive operational responsibility at McCaw/AT&T Wireless. As Executive Vice President U.S. Operations for AT&T Wireless he created and launched AT&T Digital One Rate which revolutionized the wireless industry and drove revenue at nearly three times the industry rate; grew revenue from $4 to $6 billion and completed the $1.5 billion acquisition of Vanguard Cellular Systems and $1 billion acquisition of LA Cellular making AT&T Wireless the largest US wireless carrier. Before heading US Operations for the company, Bill was President of the AT&T Wireless Central Region, leading the $1.5 billion build out of AT&T PCS markets and developing joint ventures with First Energy and Cincinnati Bell Telephone. Prior to that he was Regional Vice President of McCaw's Southwest Region, completing $300 million in acquisitions making the region one of the company’s fastest growing. Earlier as head of marketing for McCaw, Bill led the launch of Cellular One as the first national wireless brand for independent carriers and the introduction of the North American Cellular Network (NACN), the first national wireless call delivery network. Bill began working with McCaw in 1985 when he was a Partner with the company's advertising agency creating products including Go Phone ® that introduced wireless service to the mass market. Prior to McCaw, Bill had an 11-year career in senior operating and partner positions in advertising firms and media companies.

Bill is a graduate of Washburn University and Northwestern University Kellogg Graduate School of Management where he graduated from the Kellogg Management Institute.
